Grand Larceny

In Oklahoma, a person commits Grand Larceny when he/she takes property the value of which exceeds $500 or, when property valuing less than $500 is taken from the person of another.

Punishment for Grand Larceny in Tulsa

Okla. Stat. tit. 21 § 1704
Okla. Stat. tit. 21 § 1705

Grand Larceny is a felony punishable by imprisonment in the State Penitentiary up to five (5) years if the value of the property is $500 or more and if the value of the property is less than $500, it is punishable by incarceration in the county jail up to one (1) year or by incarceration in the county jail one or more nights or weekends at the option of the court as well as a fine of up to $5,000. Additionally a defendant may be ordered to pay restitution to the victim.

Definitions Grand larceny is larceny committed in either of the following cases:

1. When the property taken is of value exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00).

2. When such property, although not of value exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), is taken from the person of another.

Larceny in other cases is petit larceny.

Grand larceny is a felony punishable by imprisonment in the State Penitentiary not exceeding five (5) years if the value of the property is Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or more and if the value of the property is less than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) punishable by incarceration in the county jail for not more than one (1) year or by incarceration in the county jail one ore more nights or weekends pursuant to Section 991a-2 of Title 22 of the Oklahoma Statutes, at the option of the court, and shall be subject to a fine of not more than Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) and ordered to provide restitution to the victim as provided in Section 991a of Title 22 of the Oklahoma Statutes.
